These are vulcanised black rubber moulds that allow you to cast the British Grenadiers Colour Party, provided kit No. PA800 is also used. These 3 moulds enable you to cast standard bearers, saluting soldiers and saluting officers. You will require 75g of metal per figure.

Tools to make the moulds.

The left side two tools contain a standard bearer walking and three arms, holding a scabbard, to attention and holding a sword. The right-side two tools contain a standard bearer standing to attention with a detached left arm. The other tool in the mould contains two arms - one holding a standard and one a rifle.

Each mould in this kit contains several parts. Right and left arms which go together are attached to the same ingate. When two colours are carried the close escort consists of three N.C.O.s, on in between the colours and one each on either side, a little to the rear.

The British Infantry "colours" consist of two flags, one sovereign's flag or queen's flag, and one regimental flag for each battalion in the regiment, (excluding rifle battalions). The sovereign's colour is the union flag with the regimental badge in the centre, and also the battalion number roman numerals i.e. I, II, III etc.

The regimental colour is generally in the racing colour of the particular regiment, again with the regimental badge, and embroidered with the regiment's battle honours. Up until the 1880's a small union flag was placed in the upper canton of the regimental colour nearest the pole. Until the Great War there were no battle honours embroidered on the sovereign's colour but after 1918 up to ten were permitted on this colour.

The Regimental flags of "Royal" regiments were always blue and regiments with white facings had a St. George's Cross (red) on their white flag. The one regiment which is an exception to this rule is the foot guards whose sovereign's colour is crimson and whose regimental colour is the "Union Flag" with badge and battle honours.

As a general rule the privilege of holding the colours was given to officers, (though there are a few regimental traditions which are exceptions to this). This officer is called an ensign, and on ceremonial occasions is accompanied by a "close escort" of other ranks.

When only one colour is paraded, two N.C.O.'s often form the close escort. The form of escorts can differ from regiment to regiment.

When assembling the figures for the colour party, the escort can be made using the arms in this kit showing the soldier at attention (a). Alternatively , the rifle at slope could be used from kit PA800 (b). The figure of the officer is shown with the sword in the salute position. The tip if the blade is almost touching the ground and the left hand holds the scabbard.

For a marching colour party, use the slope arms in kit PA800 for the escort, and the officers arm with the sword raised.

The Napoleonic Wars (1803-15) were a series of wars declared against Napoleon's French Empire by opposing coalitions. As a continuation of the wars sparked by the French Revolution of 1789, they revolutionised European armies and played out on an unprecedented scale, mainly owing to the application of modern mass conscription. French power rose quickly as Napoleon's armies conquered much of Europe but collapsed rapidly after France's disastrous invasion of Russia in 1812. Napoleon's empire ultimately suffered complete military defeat resulting in the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy in France.

This product has 3 moulds that can cast 3 54mm scale metal soldiers. Some assembly may be required. Assembly can either require soldering or gluing parts together. Glue is not included.

During the 1805 campaign, the tactics of the French artillery were still evolving and during the battle of Austerlitz, examples of both old and new were to be seen. An 18 gun foot battery reserve was placed on the hill dominating a part of the field of battle, as tradition would dictate, but 24 guns of the guard artillery were used as a mobile detachment. This mobile detachment was used at the height of the battle to plug a gap in the line between the troops of Generals Soult and Lannes.

Also, Austerlitz also taught Napoleon what the effects of the "massed battery" could be, when Lanne's corps suffered 800 casualties when faced a battery of 40 Russian guns.

The composition of batteries varied, but in general the Guard foot artillery comprised between four and eight 12 pounders (sometimes with 24 pounder howitzers).

The line foot artillery comprised of six 8 pounders and two 6 inch howitzers.

N.C.O. Responsible for giving the "fire" command, he was usually a Gunner 1st Class (Corporal). He was responsible for the horizontal aim of the gun.

Gunner carrying round He is the Ammunition handler. Responsible for delivering rounds from the ammunition ches or limber to the gun loaders.

Gunner with portfire He fired the gun with the portfire after the loading and aiming was completed.

This unit was raised in Hyderabad, India, in 1862, by Captain John Gordon of the Coldstream Guards, by a treaty with the independent Nizam of Hyderabad; who was forced to give up large tracts of his land to pay for its upkeep and maintenance. According the the treaty the regiment was to provide security for the Nizam, but for the British authorities it served the added purpose of keeping his own power in check. Thus, when the Nizam's younger brother rebelled in 1929, the regiment moved into Hyderabad City and restored order. Later in 1854, the units name was changed to the 4th Cavalry and it became part of the Hyderabad contingent. During the Indian mutiny (1857-1858) Gordons Horses served as part of the Central Indian Field Force and took part in the defeat of a large rebel army near Mehidpus. It took part also in the relief of Neemuch and the capture of Jhansi. The regiment later saw action in the opening phases of the second Afgan War (1879), in several action o the North-west frontier. It served in Burma from 1887, undertaking police and anti-guerrilla activities. In 1890 it was renamed the 4th lancers, and again in 1903 it was renamed the 30th Lancers.
