A Eurostar cutting through the Kent countryside heading for the Continent at 300kph is a wonderful sight to behold yet for those on board the feeling of such speed is minimal. This year sees the familiar grey livery give way to the fresh and striking colours of the new Eurostar trains with their eye-catching blue / grey colour scheme and newly refurbished interiors.
The Hornby model replicates this new livery both in the four car train set and the separately available additional “Divisible Coaches”. The stunning Hornby train set features a Power driving unit, dummy driving unit and two passenger saloons. The model includes flush glazing, detailed roof panels and simulated pantographs. The track circuit sits easily on the 1600 x 1180 MidiMat and by adding Hornby Track and Building packs can soon be developed into a very effective model railway layout.
Train suitable for 2nd radius curves or greater.

Eurostar "Yellow Submarine" (R1253M)

< Click here for less details >
Eurostar's first use of the Class 373 for an external agency marketing campaign took place in September 1999, when the surviving Beatles; Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, along with the Apple Corporation, transformed Sets 3005/3006 with a vinyl wrap that recreated scenes from The Beatles' film, 'Yellow Submarine'. Just one of the promotional events that marked the release of the remixed song track CD that Autumn, along with the remastered version of the film that was released in cinemas and on video, at the time the film had been unavailable for over a decade and the relaunched version included scenes that were edited out of the original, while the album featured new mixes of songs, such as 'With A Little Help From My Friends' and 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds', the first such time a Beatles album had ever been remixed.
Costing in excess of £100,000, the artwork was the result of four months intensive work by Apple Corporation's Art Director, Fiona Andreanelli, with the finished vinyl artwork taking two weeks to print and a further six days to apply to the train. At over 400 metres in length, each carriage portrayed a different design, telling a different part of the Yellow Submarine story. On Wednesday 8 September, accompanied by a Jazz band playing 'Yellow Submarine', Sets 3005/3006 departed Waterloo on the official launch, much to the surprise of passengers booked on the service, which was a normal departure rather than a dedicated press charter.
The train retained the graphics for the next three months, operating between London, Paris and Brussels but fate was not kind to Sets 3005/3006 as, despite featuring the first advertising livery to be featured on Eurostar, the Sets were the first of the Class 373 trains to be scrapped, being sent to European Metal Recycling (EMR) at Kingsbury on 27 October 2016. Note: The designs featured on this model are a representation of the graphics that were applied to the eighteen passenger cars of Sets 3005/3006 and are not intended to accurately portray the livery in service.

The romance of the railways in the United Kingdom was arguably at its best when hundreds of minor railway lines traversed the countryside. In those days the locomotive drivers would have unscheduled stops along the line picking up or dropping off goods as they meandered from village to village. In consequence it is probably not surprising that some of the local inhabitants who relied upon the railway would have called their local train ‘Valley Drifter’. This set includes a Hornby MidiMat and an oval of track which can be enlarged to a simple but effective layout with the addition of Hornby Track and Accessory Packs.

Product Info
This set features a locomotive and rolling stock matched to represent the sort of rail operations as could be seen towards the end of BRs custody of the UK rail system in the 1990s.
The Class 20 was one of the classes of diesel locomotive in mainline service at the time and some of them found themselves painted out of BR Blue for the first time in over a decade and into the striking colour scheme of BR Railfreight, a patchwork of grey, red and yellow.
The wagons included in this set represent those that may often be seen being hauled by the BR Railfreight locomotives, in this case not a block train but one tasked with hauling individual wagonloads.

In Great Britain the railways were a key part of the industrial revolution, and ever since they have had an integral role in moving the country's freight. The Network Traveller represents a regional train tasked with the responsibility of supplying goods and materials to small towns and villages far away from the big cities. The people whose livelihoods depended on these supplies often had great affection for the trains that delivered them.

On the 3rd of July 1938 the LNER A4 locomotive 'Mallard' set the world speed record for a steam engine at 126 mph at Stoke Bank, south of Grantham. Years later with the nationalisation of the railways the locomotive's feat was not forgotten, with 'Mallard' maintaining its celebrity status among the trainspotters of the day while continuing to haul express passenger trains along the East Coast Mainline. This Train Set encapsulates the enduring allure of 'Mallard' as it would have appeared during the early 1950s.

To own a Hornby Dublo Set was for many the ultimate and to have one that featured a large Pacific locomotive was just a dream come true.
The Hornby Dublo 'Duchess of Montrose' first appeared in a set during 1953 but it was some 5 years later that the set was repackaged and rebranded the 'Royal Scot'. The new graphics which featured a young boy looking excitedly at the trains in front of him, formed a visual template for other sets but it was the BR Green 'Duchess of Montrose' locomotive, plus two coaches and an oval of 3-rail track that really made the set stand out from the rest.
Some 64 years later the new Hornby Dublo 'Royal Scot' Train Set makes a welcome return and features the new metal bodied 'Duchess of Montrose' in BR Green, plus two coaches and 3rd Radius Oval Track, Power Connecting Track and Re-Railer.
As with the original, the set also includes a 'Royal Scot' headboard while the coaches have separate destination boards.NB. This set does not include a wall transformer or controller.

Tri-ang Railways Remembered: RS30 Crash (R1285M) Believed to be last one available to order.

< Click here for less details >
Tri-ang Railways was formed in 1953 when Rovex Industries was obtained by the Lines Bros. New models from Tri-ang Railways occurred at an astonishing rate until by 1960 their range boasted many exciting train sets, locomotives, coaches, wagons, buildings and track. The excitement of the Tri-ang Railways sets were superbly highlighted by imaginative full colour graphics in the annual Tri-ang Railways catalogue that not only depicted the trains but where sets were concerned invariably placed them in an action-packed situation which just simply inspired and excited those young eyes that eagerly scanned the pages.
The enigmatic images and the dramatic set titles were enough for the catalogues to be poured over for hours on end with hopes and wishes that for Christmas or maybe a birthday the train set which offered so much potential excitement would be the present most wanted. For some the gift never arrived but memories of the endless time spent turning the pages of the dog-eared Tri-ang Railways catalogue and the wishing and hoping never left them. Once again, those wonderful halcyon and imaginative days can be relived with the introduction of the Tri-ang Railways Remembered Train Sets.
The production of this Set had been delayed until the introduction of the R127 mobile crane but in 1963 the ‘Crash’ Train Set appeared and was an instant success. The catalogue image and descriptive copy simply told the story and fired the imagination as well as the demand for the Set. ‘Crash’ remained in the Triang Railways range for a period of three years and in that time over 19000 sets were produced and sold.
