Fordson Tractor "Blue" (76TRAC001)

Fordson was the brand name of a range of tractors manufactured by Henry Ford, the multi-talented American motor tycoon. Apart from being a successful businessman, Henry Ford was also an inventor and his first Fordson tractor was put into mass production in 1917. By 1925, he had made over half a million of them, used not only in the USA and Canada but in Britain as well. As a result of the US recession of the 1920s and 1930s, Ford moved production to the Irish Republic in 1929 before moving again to Dagenham in the UK, which was to become the home of the Ford Motor Company for decades afterwards. The Fordson marque was subsequently replaced by the Ford name but UK Ford tractors continued in manufacture until the company was sold off to Fiat in 1991.

The Berlin Brigade was a US Army brigade sized garrison stationed in West Berlin during the Cold War and their presence, together with forces from France and the British Army, lasted right through the situation, which started in 1947 after the Yalta and Potsdam Treaties right into the early 1990s with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Our Forward Control Land Rover GS features Left Hand Drive and is decorated in a blue grey scheme with brown and white cube pattern, dark green interior with grey seating and a putty coloured canvas tilt. Its military registration plate reads 58 XB 38. The wheels echo the body colour and a final detail sees the yellow bridge plate positioned on the front left fender.

Landrover FT6 Carmichael Army Fire Service (76LRC004)

The Land Rover FT6 Carmichael Redwing FT/6 was born out of the Land Rover and despite its unusual conversion to an emergency vehicle, it still features the signature radiator grille masked in silver out of black with the Land Rover badge. The FT/6 was first introduced in 1961 and provided a light four wheel drive fire appliance with extended cab to accommodate five firefighters. The new machine with built-in pump and 140-gallon water tank provided an ideal all-terrain fire engine. The British Army Fire Service also adapted the type for use on its British and overseas bases. Decorated in the standard red and silver emergency fire service colour scheme, the model has a military registration plate 03 EM 76 with the Royal Army Fire Service crest on the cabin doors. The service lettering is printed on the crew doors on each side. The body colour carries through to the wheels and the interior. Silver masking is applied to the sides and rear, as well as to the ladders, wheel bases and hose ends. A blue roof beacon and chrome spotlight sit on the roof above the split windscreen of this somewhat different Land Rover conversion, which will also appeal to emergency vehicle collectors.

Morris J4 Van Royal Mail (76J4001)

< Click here for less details >
The Morris Commercial J4 was a 10 cwt (0.5 ton) forward-control van launched by Morris Commercial in 1960 and produced with various upgrades during its lifetime. The van was marketed first as both the Morris J4 and the Austin J4, following the formation of the British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968, which absorbed BMC, the British Motor Corporation. As a result, the J4 was also called the ?Morris 10/12 cwt. External changes to the J4 over the years included the supply of a diesel engine, so a ‘BMC diesel’ badge was fitted to the front; from 1967 to 1974 the rear doors were unglazed – probably only specified by the GPO and Post Office. From 1969 the front Morris badges were replaced with heavy stainless steel Morris badging. This changed again a year later when the large Morris badge was replaced with the small chrome AUSTIN MORRIS badge. Its style and capacity made it a great favourite as a delivery van and it became a familiar sight on British streets, used in particularly by the Royal Mail, those days under the GPO/ Post Office, who bought the original BMC J4 design from the early days in 1961 and stayed with it right until 1974. The Morris J4 was also a successful light commercial fleet vehicle, even against its main rival the newly introduced Ford Transit. To launch the newly tooled Oxford 1:76 scale model of the Morris J4, we’ve chosen the Royal Mail livery from 1962-1965 with glazed rear windows and lowly placed registration plates. Registered 348 DXV and in the traditional Post Office/Royal Mail red, the van comes with black trim and a cream interior. The Morris badge takes pride of place on the front below the windscreen while the black lettering on the van doors indicates that it worked as Number 73185 out of the Matlock Post Office in Derbyshire. Given the varied roles and refinements of this useful little commercial van, we look forward to a wealth of liveries in the near future.
